On Craft ( Philately ) ( 2 )
I have heard many persons of our day suggest that Philately – or the “Craft” of Collecting Postage Stamps is for the hollow of the head, or the bland of nature. Granted, I no longer am a practicing Philatelist, neither do I feel moved by those simple emissaries glued on every manner and method and custom of transmitting a tangible and palpable expression of human reciprocity, known alternatively, and diversely, as the “Enveloppe”, “Packet”, “Box”, “Container”, “Postcard”, and So On ; I still retain a fervent degree of admiration, comradeship, and Thankful Joy with all human and alien beings that might be interested in some simple way in such things as we call to be “Just Postage Stamps”, which for these joyful Souls can mean as much and as sacred an experience, as it means for some to commune with their own Memories, Hopes, Aspirations. To denigrate this great meditation on the rarefied and silent celebration of the profound and diverse relatedness of all Life is to admit oneself to be either unimaginative or willfully blind to the appreciation of the smallest expressions of Life’s miraculous Grace! Postage Stamps – so long as they are produced – characterize and give to a Human Being, a validation of his capacity to exhibit and enjoy a symbolic and real state of true Innocence, from which his other rambling habits have entirely robbed him.
